Had a patient the other day ask me for ‘the good meds’ like I was a drug dealer. I just smiled and said, ‘Sweetheart, if I had those, I’d be on the beach right now, not here!’ Anyone else get these kinds of requests?
I totally relate to that — patients think we have a stash hidden away. Just the other day, I had one say, ‘If you had those, I’d be on the beach right now.’ it’s funny how they see us, but they really don’t get the whole process.
Isn’t it wild how patients think we could just whip out the ‘good stuff’ like it’s a magic trick? I usually tell them if I had access to those, I’d probably retire on a tropical island too! Ever had someone try to bribe you for a little something extra?
