The connections between art and mental health

I stumbled upon an article talking about how drawing and painting can help people process emotions. It made me think, who else has seen studies on this connection? I’ve always felt that my art helps me navigate my own feelings, but I’m curious to hear if others have similar experiences or insights to share?

I totally agree that art can help process emotions. I often find that switching to a different medium, like watercolor instead of pencil, can spark new feelings or insights. Have you experimented with different tools or styles yet?

But i find that setting aside time for free sketching really helps me get in touch with my emotions — it’s less about the final product and more about the process for me. Have you tried any specific exercises to channel your feelings into your art?
