I keep a bubble wand and a dinosaur sticker sheet in my pocket, and they can turn a tense 10-minute vaccine visit into a calm, teachable moment for families. What comfort measures or child-friendly phrases do you lean on, especially when the schedule is packed?
@OP Bubble wand rocks — i cue pinwheel breathing — ‘blow candles’ — let them pick bandage; works in 10-minute visits?
I give them a “job of the day” — they count me down and then press the gauze right after; that little control keeps them still and we stay on schedule. For toddlers I skip the countdown; @JulesTravel, do you cue the job while you set up?
