Managing Care during Shift Change

I’ve found that doing a quick huddle with the oncoming shift can really streamline patient care and minimize errors. Last week, we started a 10-minute overlap where nurses share the crucial updates, and it made a huge difference. Anyone else trying something like this?

That 10-minute overlap sounds smart! I’ve found a visual board helps too — anyone else using one?

I totally agree with the quick huddle concept! , it drives me nuts when we don’t have a clear handoff. I’ve found that using a shared checklist really helps cover all the critical points during those 10 minutes, so we don’t miss anything vital.

I totally get that! Those 10-minute overlaps really make a difference, but I’ve noticed that if we don’t stick to a set agenda, they can drag on or get sidetracked. I suggest having a simple outline to keep it focused.
