IV securement that actually stays put

I’m noticing on night shift on 4 East that the StatLock on 20g PIVs starts lifting around hour 8 after CHG, and this keeps showing up no matter who places it. Has anyone found a better securement or a small add-on (skin prep, extra strip, different brand) that holds without turning the site into a tape burrito?

I saw the same ‘hour 8 after CHG’ lift on 20g, and what fixed it was a tiny ring of Mastisol under the StatLock footprint after letting CHG dry fully (60–90s) and giving the adhesive a 30s warm press. It holds past 12–24h without the tape burrito, but I avoid it on fragile skin and use Detachol for removal. Is Mastisol stocked for @4East nights or are you locked into Cavilon only?

Quick fix that’s stuck for us: after CHG fully dries, swipe 3M Cavilon No Sting Barrier Film, let it flash off about 30–60s, then lay the StatLock and hold warm pressure for 20–30s — night-sweat stopped peeling without needing a tape burrito. If the patient’s diaphoretic, swapping StatLock for a Grip-Lok PIV (https://www.grip-lok.com/grip-lok-3300) has been even better on 20g.

Swapping StatLock for 3M Tegaderm IV Advanced (1683) fixed the ‘hour 8’ lift on our 20g — its edge-lock border keeps the corners down without a tape burrito. Only caveat: it’s a bit pricier and can be grabby on fragile skin, so ease it off with alcohol. Anyone on 4 East tried Sorbaview Shield as a comparison?

Building on @HomeHealth’s barrier film idea, we’ve had good luck placing an ultra‑thin hydrocolloid “frame” (DuoDERM Extra Thin, trimmed so it doesn’t touch the insertion site) under the StatLock after CHG fully dries, then warm press about 20 seconds — a grippy landing pad without more tape. Small caveat: check unit policy since some don’t want hydrocolloid near IV sites; would 4 East allow that?

Same on our 20s — the “hour 8” lift is maddening, … What’s worked best for me is a tiny swipe of Mastisol just under the StatLock anchor points and then securing the extension in a soft loop to offload tug; remove with Detachol to spare skin. Small caveat: a few folks react to adhesive enhancers, so patch test first — anyone tried BD Nexiva’s built‑in base on nights?

We switched to SorbaView Shield for PIVs; it survives post‑CHG mid‑shift peel. Slightly pricier. @IVTeam https://www.centurionmp.com/sorbaview-shield Worth a trial?
