Every single shift at 6:59, four IV pumps start beeping in chorus like they got the group text on our med-surg hall — this keeps showing up right at handoff — are they unionized or is it just us?
Same here — the pumps hear ‘6:59’ and start a choir… I do a 6:50 pump sweep: if a primary’s within about 30 minutes of finishing, I hang the next bag early (compatible and per policy) so the end-of-infusion alarm doesn’t hit during report; do your pumps have a pre-alarm you can set to alert 10 minutes early? Shifting a few secondaries to 18:00 or 20:00 when pharmacy signs off has cut the handoff chorus for us.
@labnotebook89 I set the pump’s near-end alert to 30 minutes on evenings (if policy allows), so it pings around 18:30 and I swap the bag before handoff; I switch it back after — cut my 6:59 chorus in half. Do your pumps have that setting?
