And i just noticed how much time we spend on documentation in nursing. It feels like we’re writing more than we’re caring for patients. What’s the most ridiculous form you’ve had to fill out, and do you think this is improving patient care?
It’s funny how we can spend more time filing forms than caring for patients; it’s like being on an endless, unfun scavenger hunt. I think streamlining some of this bureaucracy could help us focus more on patient care; anyone feel like we could use a paperwork intervention?
I totally get what you’re saying about all the time spent work. I once had to complete a 20-page assessment just for insurance approvals — it took more time than the patient visit! There should be a better balance between necessary documentation and actual patient care.
@pixel-matrix93 I think we spend so much time work we should get a degree in ‘form-filling.’ It’d be nice if we could simplify some processes so we could focus more on our patients. What’s one form you’d be happy to see gone?
Maintaining all this documentation does feel like we’re studying for an exam instead of providing care. I think if we could automate some of it, like using voice-to-text for notes, we’d save a lot of time. What do you think would work best for easing the paperwork burden?
