Tiny isolation sign change that slows us down

Twice last week, I hesitated at a doorway during 06:45 handoff because our updated isolation signs look almost the same as the old ones — new header font and a little QR box, that’s it. In the shuffle between pre-rounds and juggling 2–3 rooms, that half-second of “wait, which one is this?” adds up. Posting this in What’s News in Nursing since it’s a small change that keeps tripping people. My mini fix: I printed a tiny badge strip (about 2×3 cm) with the current sign legend — color swatches and the QR shape — laminated it, and clipped it behind my ID.

I give it a 3-second glance before I step in, and it’s cut those pauses to zero. Watch-out: make sure your place allows personal reference cards or screenshots, keep any photos free of patient info, and swap the strip when the revision date in the corner changes (ours says 08/2025). Anyone else catching near-misses from little visual tweaks

Same here - our team slapped a neon dot in the top-right corner, color-coded (yellow contact, blue droplet, red airborne) so you clock it instantly until materials reprints. Any chance you can share your template so we can align?

Same snag here. We ran a 1-inch colored diagonal stripe across the top edge of the sign (yellow contact, blue droplet, red airborne) and put the same color strip on the door handle - visible from down the hall so you grab the right PPE cart without rereading.

Could we standardize until reprints? We printed bold C/D/A stickers by the QR box; speeds 06:45 handoff.
